Manu + Blanquillo Macaw Clay Lick 4D/3N

Manu Blanquillo Macaw clay lick  is a tour that takes place in the southern part of the Manu National Park entering the interoceanic road – Puerto Colorado. With a trip of approximately 7 hours by car and a trip of approx. 4 to 5 hours by boat until you reach the Amazon plain, where you can see capybaras, turtles, Caimans, monkeys, piranhas, sloths, and even the jaguar.

With the following most outstanding activities that are: Explore Cocha Blanco Lake on a Catamaran to see giant otters, black caimans, piranhas, monkeys, toucans, sloths, etc.  And then climb to an observation tower located in a treetop to see the landscape and animals; see macaws eating clay on the claylick,  then go to the mammal clay lick to see the tapir and other nocturnal animals at night.

night walks to see Caimans, snakes, tarantulas, frogs, insects; Bird watching; etc. Authentic expedition with typical food from the jungle and with drinks made from products from the jungle, the Lodges are comfortable with sofas, a bar and Wi-Fi.

Tour Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSCO – TAMBO BLANQUILLO LODGE

We leave Cusco at 4:00 a.m. in our private car, and we take the interoceanic highway, during the trip we will pass many places of tourist attraction such as the Ausangate mountain that is the highest pass on our route, we will arrive to Marcapata for breakfast, from this point We begin to appreciate the Amazon jungle and that it is the beginning of the cloud forest.
A little further down we will make walks and stops to look for exotic birds of the cloudy forest, especially the national bird of Peru, the cock of the rocks, toucans, quetzals, motmots, etc. Arriving to Puerto Carlos at around 12:00 pm, here we cross the river by boat and then continue our journey in vans to Puerto Colorado. Here we board the boat to travel along the Madre de Dios River to the lodge, during the journey on the banks and beaches in the river we will be able to see large black and white caimans, turtles, butterflies and other animals arriving at Tambo Blanquillo Lodge approx. . 5:30 pm. DAY 2: TAMBO BLANQUILLO LODGE – MACAW CLAY LICK – COCHA BLANCO.

This day we will get up approx. 4:30 am, to go to the hide of the Macaw Clay Lick and wait there patiently all morning watching the spectacular activity of parrots and macaws, which come to eat clay to obtain the minerals they need in their metabolism. And sometimes you can even see small cats that come to hunt the macaws, after this activity we return to the lodge for our delicious lunch.
In the afternoon after a short rest we explore the Cocha Blanco lake on a catamaran, here we can see the giant otter (river wolf) the most threatened species, the reason is that this mammal eats between 3 to 5 kilos of fish per day each one of them, and there are not many lakes left in the Amazon jungle with abundant fish, only in national parks like Manu and private reserves; We will also see more Caimans, turtles, herons, many species of monkeys such as: howler monkeys, black and white capuchins and other monkeys, prehistoric birds and enjoy the sunset. Then we return to the lodge for dinner and then we will go to the mammal clay lick to see the tapir and other nocturnal animals. B.L.D.

 

DAY 3: TAMBO BLANQUILLO – MANU WILDLIFE CENTER.

After breakfast we leave the lodge with all our stuff and head towards Manu Wild Life Center Lodge. Which is located about 40 minutes up river, arriving at the lodge we settle in and then we will hike to a primary forest to explore this beautiful jungle to search of more species of animals such as: monkeys, toucans, insects, plants. The guide will explain the relationship between plant, animal, insect and the function of the different ecosystems and the medicinal functions of plants. After lunch a short rest and then we explore the garden of the lodge to see birds and hummingbirds and later we go to an observation tower on the top of ceiba tree to see birds from the canopy and enjoy the sunset. At night optional night walk to see tarantulas, snakes, frogs and insects. B.L.D.

DAY 4: MANU WILDFILE CENTER – CUSCO.

This day after breakfast we return by boat to Puerto Colorado and from there we take vans to Puerto Carlos and from there after crossing the river by boat we take our car that brings us back to Cusco, dropped off at your hotel B.L.
